Colonel Liam Nevyle Kincaid peered through the one-way mirror at the three
Resistance members were seated at the table, their hands locked in magnetic
cuffs and their eyes behind tightly-bound blindfolds. His jaw tightened as
he looked at the middle one.
Imposter. The one who had stolen Kincaid's identity.
Bettis came up behind him and shut the global he was holding. "Yup, it's no coincidence. The record shows that he claims to have been in that ambush in Taiwan."
Kincaid had to restrain his sarcastic reply. The chances of there being two Liam Nevyle Kincaids in the world at roughly the same time, with the same war record, were astronomical. And Kincaid had never been good at math.
And he not only was mad that the man had stolen his identity, he also wanted to know WHY. Why had this mystery man never existed until half a year ago? Why had he chosen an MIA instead of simply devising his own falsified military record? What had he done that made him need a new identity?
Kincaid growled a little. He hated mysteries, and the man inside the room, now with his blindfold removed, was a very big mystery. One that he intended to peel apart...

Kincaid watched as Cook asked Liam to tell her the truth. He refused, stating that it was too dangerous. The colonel's brow furrowed as he sank into his thoughts.
Liam was definitely hiding something, but Kincaid was beginning to doubt that he had committed a crime. The Resistance would not have hired a simple murderer, for example. And charges against the Resistance had been dropped earlier that year, although it was clear that the Taelons intended to fight the Resistance whether there were charges or not.
So he wasn't a criminal. Why was he hiding this, not just from his enemies, but from his friends? What was so important to hide? And where had he been for the last twenty-nine years of his life...
The alarms began to sound, breaking Kincaid from his reverie...
