My view on my trip to the Con-Monality Convention June 18-20, 1999 Novotel Airport Hotel.
DAY THREE
Well, today was the official last day of the Con. Nothing much was planned. A bunch of us went to breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel with Rod. Well, that was a bust. The food was EXPENSIVE and some other things well... But Rod was great. After breakfast he went home. He was coming back though. Someone else invited him to lunch and he ask some of us the go along.
While he was gone they held the charity auction at about 12 noon. Some of the items were pretty nice. A fan decorated E:FC jacket-signed by all the people that came to the Con, two scripts (I think they make have been autographed too), a press kit from season two-autographed by the people who attended the Con, a nice fleece-type E:FC jacket, a E:FC hat, some Atlantis/Alliance related items, a very nice Da'an shirt and some other things relating to Star Trek ,etc. The scripts went for about $360 for one and $410 or something for the other one. The S2 press kit (thank you Cleya for that donation) went for over $100.
Then it was lunch. We went out for lunch. During this at the Con had some of the people from Nerve FX come in and talk about the special effects on the show. They also wrap up the Con then at about three o' clock.
After that it was just hang out time. Rod was nice enough to hang out with some of us in one of our hotel rooms. We were trying to figure out want everyone wanted to do that night. And it took awhile to do that. Some people didn't want to wait, so they went out sight-seeing. I figured nope, I rather find out what the others are doing (that stayed). We finally settled on a movie. Rod was coming along to, but he rode his motorcycle. We ending up seeing "The Mummy" at the movie theater near the Easton Mall in Toronto. The movie was good and got out at about 11 something. Then Rod invited us all back to his hometo stay the night! I just couldn't believe it. It was put to a vote and since our driver (thank you Cleya) said sure, and off we went.
We met his dog Orion and stayed up for a bit... Two of us used the phone to make plans to stay an extra day, for we (at least most of us) were going to see E:FC filming on location the next day! I finally went to sleep at three that morning.
