My views on the Con-Monality 2 Convention June 2-4, 2000 Days Airport Hotel.
My First Three Days Of The Convention
Well, my trip to the Con started one day early. I thought it be nice to get there a day early. So I caught my flight from the Evansville Airport (in Evansville, IN) at about 1:05 p.m. and with a change over in Cinncinati ended up in Toronto close to 5:30 p.m.
I wasn't all too sure if anyone was going to meet me at the airport or not (it was not) so I got the hotel's shuttle to come pick me up. Why in the world they charged 4.75 for the trip is beyond me. I got there and waited in the hotel lobby for my "roommates" for the Con, Ka'ri and Terri. Well, since I never made definite plans when/where to meet them, I waited about 2 and a half hours until they got back from eating out. Carrie (Ka'ri) was nice enough to call and tell me they where on there way during all this.
During this waiting time, I could have went down to the hotel's bar and hung out with Lisa, MauiDean (who passed me in the hotel lobby, but I didn't know it was him!) Dave and a bunch other people (I think). My fault. :( Well, they get there, we check into our room and got down to the bar and meet up with everyone. Everyone being: Dave, MauiDean, Lisa, Krissy, HMT, B'Dat, Baby Kosh, Rob From Ont., Sesperia, Raven, Vicky and some other people I can't remember. Sorry!!
Sat and talked, had a few drinks,
etc. Carrie went up at one point to meet Collette and sometime during
this Maya walked in. Carrie met Collette and by this time some people
had drifted off to bed and some of us were in the hotel lobby. Carrie,
Collette and Ray (who came with Collette) went out to eat (after well a "little
show" I think). At that point I think it was still Me, Dave, Terri
and Rob From Ont. in the lobby. Dave went to bed and me and Terri went
up to the room and went to sleep. Carrie came in around 3 a.m. and
I think that we had went to sleep around 2:30 a.m. That was my first
day.
Day Two for me. All
I'm going to say on that are a few choice words, always carry a map of the
city you are going to if you aren't really sure where you are going, downtown
Toronto has some nice houses, Toronto's transit system is really nice and
boy does Easton (Mall/Center) have alot of cloths and shoes stores. And
that night it was the bar again. And unexceptaly
Inessa came up from New York (she wasn't suppose to
be coming for the Convention) and I went to bed late again.
Day Three for me. Here goes. The morning outright SUCKED for me. Later on in the afternoon they had the convention "lunch", which I personally didn't really care for. I guess I didn't like chicken in Razberry Sauce too much (that was the main course). :)
During the afternoon also was when Maribeth Solomon came in (one of the music creators on E:FC) and talked some and sold some of E:FC CD's. The "special guest" for that afternoon was Andrew Jackson, the jaridian from the episode "The Gauntlet". I'll get to what he said in a second but something interesting happened before he went up to talk. I was sitting in the back, left row of the hall, feeling pretty sucky (see above comment) Maribeth S. was talking and during that Andrew J. and his business manager (?) came in and sat down in the same row as me! Andrew was sitting one seat way from me too! We did shake hands and asked me who was talking (he had NO idea who Maribeth was). Of course I told him. Well that had made the day little better at that point.
On to some of the stuff he said- the jaridian costume was original suppose to light up and puff up a bit, they didn't have to do any changes on his vocal track (it was really him speaking that way in the episode!), he was afraid to pick Lisa up, and some other stuff I can't remember. Eep! He really can do an amazing range of voices too. He is as good-looking as everyone said also. And he was saying in almost every role he dies and his "jaridian" never did get a name. Of course he signed some pictures (I didn't get one because I didn't like the way the pictures looked). I left after that. Chris a camera guy for the show came on next and I heard he talked about the new digital camera they are using this season. And if this was the same guy I saw before I left, he could pass as Robert L. in a second!
Afterwards, went up to the room, came back down and met up with some people. Dave, Lisa, Stella, Helen, MauiDean, Vicky and Ben and Joe. And Starkey and B'Dat (I'll get to that in a second). They were all going over to a internet cafe so I was in the right place at the right time, and I went along. Stella, Ben and Joe and Starkey were driving, with Ben and Joe in the lead car. Well some how Ben and Joe "lost" Starkey (and B'Dat who was in the car with her, they did make it back to the hotel okay though) in the middle of this but the rest of us ended up at the cafe. That was a hoot! Chatting on the internet to people in the same room.
Of course, later that night was the hotel bar and Dave's friends from Ireland had arrived (I think) at that point. More to come on that. :) Same thing happened as the last two night and of course went to bed late. :) SPECIAL THANKS TO: Stella, Lisa, Dave B., Helen, Ben and Joe, B'Dat, Starkey, MauiDean, Vicky, Alan and Russell (Dave's friends from Ireland)-if any of you read this you made my otherwise bad day a really nice one! THANKS!!
More to come in the next three days (of the Convention- two un-officially). And to all that have heard the agurements and the such of what went on at the Convention, I could have said my peace here on that but I'm not. My only reason is "Some things are better left unsaid". :) Hehehehe.........
