Lili was dead.

Liam still found not believe it was true, a part of him stubbornly continued to deny the dark truth of the matter. He did not want to accept it. Lili had seen him born, she had defended and trusted him when others looked at him sideways, their gazes suspicious.

Liam felt tired: he had experienced entirely too much death in his life. Boone in his vision, Quo'on, The potential future when the Resistance members had been massacred, Ha'gel, his mother, the bodies of the Volunteers, Amanda. Why was it that many of the people he cared for wound up dying on his watch?

They did not even allow Lili anything more than a hasty funeral. The only ones present aside from himself and Sandoval were Volunteers. No family, friends, flowers or last words spoken over her coffin. She was considered a traitor and had received a traitor's funeral. Even Da'an seemed to think of her as such now.

He closed his eyes and leaned against the corridor wall on the Mothership for support. The image of her still and burned face visible between the plastic halves of the black body bag kept returning to him as he passed places she had once routinely visited.

When Liam came to a window, he found himself memorized by the black void of space. 'I won't forget you', Liam promised Lili, 'and neither will Augur or the rest of the Resistance'.
